Project: Hygiene Hijinks

Purpose: The purpose of this project is to educate pre-school children in the practice of basic hygiene. This project will be designed with the ability to be duplicated easily by other organizations.

Goals:

• The main goal of this project is to educate the youth of under-served populations in order to reduce the frequency of preventable illnesses that arise in the classroom.

Plan: NSU physician assistant students will plan and implement a lecture series to cover basic hygiene practices. Over four weeks, NSU physician assistant students will teach one class a week covering the following topics; Oral hygiene, Hand washing, Bathing, and Grooming. The lectures will be entertaining as to keep the attention of such a young population, complete will hygienic prizes such as toothbrushes, floss, soap, etc.
